Appenzeller Turf in Hundwil
The rural municipality square of Hundwil is clad with Appenzeller turf. The two half-cantons Ausser- and Innerrhoden celebrate 500 years membership of the Swiss confederation. The actual center of the festivities is the former Ausserrhoder Landsgemeinde square of Hundwil.
The square has been transformed into a unique outdoor theatre with stage and 700 chairs. As befits the Appenzell, all is dressed in Green: with Appenzeller turf from the house of Tisca. The tribunes seem to appeal to our foreign guests as well. From a tour bus packed with Japanese tourists with cameras to a senior citizen couple from Steamboat, Colorado.
The performance is «THE THIRTEENTH PLACE». A musical play relating to the festivities”. This play is a central part of the official ceremony.
